Welcome to my website and thanks for visiting.
My name is David Hall and I’m a third year DPhil student studying particle physics at Oxford University. I work on the ATLAS experiment, one of the four detectors at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This is a new particle accelerator located at CERN, on the French-Swiss border near Geneva. For an introduction to particle physics, please look here.
My research involves searching for collisions where a Higgs boson has been produced and subsequently decayed to two W bosons. This analysis contributed to the recent discovery of the Higgs boson. I also work within the Standard Model electroweak group, studying a background to this Higgs signal. For more details of my analysis work, please look here.
